Everyone,
I felt I should say this to all of you.
This association is based upon very sound human principles aside from our collective love of Battlestar Galatica.
In our association world wide, we have no barriers.
It does not matter what color you are, what sex you are, what religon you believe in, your political views, your nationality, your sexual orientation, your disability, what country you reside in...none of that is relevent.
We are brothers & sisters under the same credo & belief....we are one by virtue of a common passion.
We are united, we are stong & we will continue to be strong.
Our fundamental strength, the strength of the Battlestar Fan Club...the Battlestar GALACTICA fan club...is all of you.
You are all the bedrock, you are the foundation, you are the diversity that makes a common us.
YOUR energy fuels us & moves us forward & we have great faith in that & in you.
Not for one minute, not for one second do we take our eyes off the fact that all of you make the difference.
I could become very melodramatic & say you are all "The wind beneath or wings" but essentially that is the case.
YOU lift us, you propel us, you make the fan club.
You are our most vital strength.
I wanted to say two things in all this....that we are ever embracing & that you make the difference...
As Stan "the man" Lee likes to say...
"Nuff said"
So say we all!
Reporting back from the sunny frontlines in equally sunny & hot Burbank, California!
Today fellow Battlestar Fan Club member Herb Brunner paid a visit on a certain composer of a certain musical theme...of course the imcomparable Stu Phillips (Stu, I know you are going to read this!)...so I'll add in the magnificent on top of that!
The place: Dark Delicacies...and for you folks in the Golden State that would be at 3512 W Magnolia St in Burbank...pay them a visit.
This is a bookstore that specializes in the horror & fantasy genre (hence the name) which of course I found fascinating.
The event: a signing by some very talented composers that included not only Stu but also Mark Isham "The Conspirator" & Cliff Martinez "Solaris" among others
Stu was there signing for the newly remastered 'Battlestar Galactica: A Saga of a Star World" which was just issued by Intrada.
I'm the proud owner of a copy!
Herb, lucky man, got a copy too...!!!
OK, so I did say in my caption that we had something here that you had never heard before.
I think I can say that with complete confidence.
Stu actually wrote a variation on the Battlestar Galactica theme back in '78 & as far as Stu knows the only time anybody ever mentioned to him that they had heard it was actually Glen Larson who heard it in a hotel lobby in Hawaii & was so excited by it that he actually telephoned Stu right then & there to tell him about it!
Folks, I give you...Battlestar Galactica...the DISCO version!!!
ONE YEAR LATER: The oil is still here and continues to impact our coast and communities while further eroding the Gulf’s already suffering natural storm protection of wetlands and barrier islands. Over 1,000 miles of coast have been oiled, increasing the football field of coastal wetlands we lose every 45 minutes.
Brothers & Sisters,
I have a very, very special treat for you this evening...right now, if I was a dog my tail would be wagging!
With the utmost sense of honor, I got permission from Bear McCreary to use a Battlestar Galactica track that he composed that overlaid the music of the original Battlestar Galactica theme...so this is really a hybrid of what Bear & Stu Phillips composed.
I don't know how many of you have heard this theme or not...I'm willing to bet that most of you have not.
This music is so stirring & sums up what we are about.
To be honest I'm getting emotional writing this!
Personally, I think it would be the perfect theme to frame the partership between the Battlestar Fan Club & the Colonial Defense Forces.
It really sums up everything.
Please click on the Bear McCreary interview in the blog section & THEN click on "read the rest of the interview..."
You will be rewarded beyond the dreams of Avarice
Shawn
Brothers & Sisters,
I call us that because we are one family, united & strong.
33 years ago a journey was begun, that continues now...this IS our journey.
It is what my good & dear friend Richard Hatch likes to call "Synergy"...We, all of us create this.
We are the event.
Momentous things have been happening as of late, something which I like to call a turning point in all our affairs.
This great partnership between the Battlestar Fan Club & the Colonial Defense Forces will serve not only to bring out the best in both, but benefit our common future.
While there are many turning points, this is in fact a crucial one...we are collectively on a mission.
We are tasked with continuing to build the very, very best experience for everyone involved...that would be me & you!
The sky is the limit & the future is bright for us all, united.
I want to thank President Daniel Allan for all that he is doing, I will give that man considerable cred...he bust's his, well you know what!
A true believer & a true soldier & a man that I cannot do without.
Chris Feehan & I began this club 11 years ago, not knowing what would happen....we did know that we had a cause.
We were right & we sparked a revolution...oh, not just me & Chris...all of us.
This is what people power means, all of us can make a difference...how else did three new Battlestar Galactica shows happen?
People, we will make this a continuing legacy, make our mark & fight the ever good fight.
We continue, we will always continue!
So say we all!

One of my favorite flight scenes of this episode is when Starbuck & Hot Dog fly like boy and girl kids on patrol & at play.
Apollo while on patrol as well but in a new viper breaks off and pursues Starbuck after she encounters a mystery Cylon heavy Raider. I have to admit, this clip does the new vipers justice, looks hot!
Hope to catch up we some of you on Fed Con XX at Düsseldorf from April the 28th til Sunday the 1st of Mai.
Lets have a good time and lets have a good time with Dirk Benedikt, Kate Vernon and all the other actors like Richard Dean Anderson, Scot Bacula and so on.

Being new to the fanclub, I thought that I would put it out there for all members to have access should they want to learn a little more about the Battlestar Hyperion. You can find us on the web at www.battlestarhyperion.com
We recently changed servers, and the website is still a work in progress. If you get the opportunity, please stop by, take a look, and by all means, feel free to send me your comments and suggestions.

I started what I consider my contribution to the group. Welcome to BSG-SF (Sci-Fi) My personal site and extension to our BSG-FC here, who is also listed on my site as a sponsor. The BSG-SF Meetup group is a place for people in my local Pasadena/ LA area to actually meet and interact not only on the net, but in person as well; while still in support and to represent our BSG-FC here. Both men and women that have a love of the new Battlestar Galactica, and the original BSG series, Star Trek, and other Sci-fi programming are welcome to join.

I bet that mystery Cylon Raider is "Scar". If you know the story behind Scar, it kind of makes sense.

I know I am just one member but please consider making that donation to the Intl. Red Cross.
It's a little personal I guess. I used to live and work in Japan, for about a year and have never found more kind & generous people.
Once I was sick and needed to be in the hospital for around 3 weeks, my japanese is not so hot and the nurses didn't speak english. But those ladies went to the effort of buying and english dictionary and really made every effort to communicate with a kind of freaked out westerner who was really ill. There was no rude indications of: why doesn't she learn OUR language, which sadly many countries do to foriegners. The Japanese had great compassion.
Compassion is COOL.
I hope you don't mind my little story. There may be others here who have also been to 'Nippon'. I am certain they love it too. Can you make even a small donation?
Thanks for indulging my blog.
